Walk Towards My Passion

For long I have always been dubious about what my passion actually is. I questioned around to people as to how do they define passion. It was no good, but still, I figured it out when I thought what I wanted to do, soo much that I thought about it everyday. To write a novel and publish it.

I think about this everyday, as to how to start it and how much to write, and guessed it would be easy. I have a friend who encouraged me and his very words, “never stop this, k”, after reading one of my blog, pushed me over the edge, out of my dilemma and procrastinating habit. But, what should I tell now?, its not so easy to write a novel.

The pain begins at deciding the character names, and descriptions of the characters. It took hours together to imagine the names and I would staring at the naked ceiling with a blank mind, desperately willing for something to pop up in my mind. Most of the time, it was *facepalm*. But still, I did manage to get my initial character list.

The next anguish lies in the plot, that is the most trickiest part. The basic plot on which the entire story is based. At took me almost 3 hours to get it. And yet, am not sure if its the thing I want. The twists and turns and the murder, I just do not want to fall over the edge and become a psychopath. But, still, even though it is a pain in the ass, its a good pain.

I started my novel and am 4 scenes through in the first chapter. Hoping that the things turn out properly in a chronic order, I might also participate in some writing competition. Do tell me if you know any such thing, for I am an amateur and would always like to know from experts. And I will publish my novel, giving life to my dream and to my words.

There’s some really good websites worth checking out for contests. I’m not an expert- but I still do highly recommended checking out the writing contests section of NewPages:

You can distinguish in the drop-down menu whether you want to enter fiction, non-fiction, etc- and also limit options depending on whether you are able to pay an entry fee.

Happy writing! 🙂
